So one of the last nights in Tokyo we were looking for a few different places to visit. One was an 8-bit Cafe. It is a small bar that caters to nerds and gamers that enjoy the old NES, SNES, etc game systems and want to drink why they play them. You can bring your own games or you can play some of the ones they have there. The drink list is extensive and all of the drinks are named after old game characters. Below is the Dr. Mario, it’s served in a graduated beaker and comes with some flavor capsules you drop into the drink (nice touch).
We had a good time and played some of the games they had setup but overall it was a little slow and I wish they had more systems ready to go. Here is a photo of the entire drink list.
Our Shochu guide (post for that to come soon) took us here on our second night. It was the last stop for the night and luckily there was a small corner to sit in. The room has 2 or 3 large speakers that anyone can request a song to play through. The bartender charges $7 for can beers, but the atmosphere is worth the high price. The menu of artists is extensive and impressive. They hand you the menu with a small flashlight. You page through until you find an artist you want to hear, grab the bartenders attention and point to the one you want. She grabs all the cd(s) of that artist and you pick a song for her to add to the queue.
